Godaddy becomes first Domain Registrar to hit 500,000 New gTLD Registrations

According to ntldstats.com, Godaddy.com has become the first domain name registration to have registered more than 500,000 domain names.

Godaddy has 500,091 new gTLD domain names under registration, 100,000 more than the second closest domain registrar, Network Solution which topped the 400,000 domain mark although around 377K of the 400,000 Network Solutions domain names were given to customers for for free.

As of the last update there are now 3,161,685new gTLD domain names registered. Godaddy has just under 16% of the new gTLD market share of domain name registrars.

There are only 9 domain name registrars that have 100,000 domain registrations or more. In some additional news CentralNic become the second company to operate the back end of many new gTLD’s to break the 750K mark.

Donuts of course continues to have the most new gTLD with over 1,065,000 registrations. Only 8 companies which operate the backends for new gTLD’s registries have more than 100,000 registrations.
