In its 2014 budget ICANN expects a total of 646 new gTLD applications will be withdrawn up from its estimate of 545.

There were 1931 applications submitted for 1,409 strings.
Of the 646 applications it is now budgeting to be withdrawn, 105 are projected to be withdrawn prior to the end of Initial Evaluation at a 70% rate. There are currently 66 new gTLD applications withdrawn and ICANN is expected to release IE up through prioritization number 400 today
390 applications are projected to be withdrawn at the 35% refund rate with the balance of 150 at the lowest refund rate of only 20%.
