ICANN has released the latest generic Top-Level Domain name applications, which include .africa, .capetown, .mtn, .multichoice, .dstv, .durban, .capetown and .joburg
DStv channels have dominated the list of applicants for the new top level domains from Africa, this was clearly seen in the list of proposed generic top-level domain names (gTLDs) revealed by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) wednesday.
Internet users have grown accustomed to .com, .net, or .org domains, but this list is set to grow substantially with the new gTLDs.
According to ICANN “There are currently 280 ccTLDs but only 22 “generics” in the domain name system right now, but that is all about to change,” .
